The setup of our wireless service requires the installation of an antenna on the outside of your house with line of sight to one of our relays or repeaters. Our current standard antenna is 190 mm (7.5 in) in diameter and which is mounted on a small J-bracket. A single Ethernet cable is run from the antenna into the house, which carries both the signal and power.
For properties that are more than 2 km from a relay we may use a larger dish antenna up to 400 mm in diameter (slightly smaller than the size of a standard satellite dish).
In most cases, the installation takes about an hour, and the service is operational straight away.
Scottish Broadband Voucher Scheme (SBVS)
Your property may be eligible for a 'voucher' to help pay for a new connection. Check whether you can get anything via the SBVS Website. If you are, let us know and we should be able to redeem your voucher against the installation cost.
Borders Online offers various Data Tariffs
Our wireless tariffs offer full speed usage but with a data quota limit which runs over a rolling 30-day period. So as long as you stay within that quota limit your speeds will be the maximum that the network is capable of achieving. Which is about 30 Mbps download and about 20 Mbps upload. If you exceed your quota within a 30-day period we impose a progressive speed cap – 5 Mbps up to 25gb over then 0.5 Mbps if you exceed higher than this. You can remove these speed limits by purchasing a top up if it is a temporary over usage or you can move to a higher tariff.

Borders Online payments are taken by Direct Debit using the secure online company GoCardless – a BACS approved bureau, FCA authorised institution which makes payments quick and simple for you. All bank details are stored with RSA encryption.
Once you sign up for our service, we will send you an email asking you to sign up for a GoCardless mandate. The initial setup charge will be taken after your connection is installed and is working. Monthly payments are billed at the beginning of each month and are normally taken within the first week of the month.
